gOgO's Tips:

E-Mail

KIC E-News is proud to introduce this new section to our newsletter. gOgO will be continually preparing tips to make your Internet or Intranet surfing more successful. This issues' tips - E-mail

  1. When sending a URL (web site address) via e-mail, always put "http://" in front of www.xxx.xx so that the recipient (usually) can simply click and launch the site. Otherwise, they are required to cut & paste the address into their browser. This extra task may discourage some people from checking the URL.

  2. When sending a web site address via e-mail it's a good idea to put the name of site in the subject line of the e-mail for easy e-mail file management and future retrieval.

  3. When giving out your e-mail address, always write it down or spell it out over the phone. Never assume YOURS is so especially easy that the other person will remember it.

  4. Choose e-mail addresses that are easily identified with your name or business. People may not remember who belongs to that cute e-mail address.

  5. Prior to sending attachments of more then a meg, verify the recipient's connection speed and any network restrictions. No one wants to wait 10 minutes for their e-mails to download, also many firewalls will automatically reject e-mails containing attachments over a certain size.
