KIC E-News Summary
EVENTS:
CNET Builder Live
For the third year in a row, K'nechtology has attended CNET's Builder Live Conference. During this 3 day event, we not only attended sessions by world leading Internet experts, but we were on the look-out for cool and useful tools. We were not disappointed as usual and managed to find an interestingl tool and the best part is that it's free.
Sessions
The most common theme during the various keynote addresses and sessions, was the importance of using the web to strengthen corporate branding. Topics discussed included using sound and consistent look & feel to brand. As always, slow page load speed was seen as a deterrent to effective web design and branding.Other changes to this year's conference included a growing number of sessions dedicated to various aspects of the business side of the web. This included at least two sessions focused on getting the web development teams to work together more efficiently and a session by K'nechtology's own Alan K'necht on "Measuring An Internet Project's ROI".
Ecode.com
Ecode is an interesting free utility, not unlike many others, but with the benefits wrapped up in a single package with a bonus attached. Ecode allows you to manage your contacts and files on the web. It comes with a free 35 meg file storage area, a calendar and an address book. What is unique is the way the address book works. Yes, it works just like any other electronic address book, you enter your contacts name, e-mail address etc, but here comes the unique feature. If your contact is a registered eCode user, you simply need to enter their eCode number and all their information is instantly entered. To aid in this data entry there is an easy to use look-up utility provided. Now here's its really cool feature, every time an eCode profile is changed, everyone who has that eCode entered into their personal address book immediately receives the update. What does this mean? No more outdated address books. Your address book is kept up-to-date by those in it.
ECode also comes with a variety of other features which alone, justify a look. So checkout eCode at www.ecode.com
